Birthday week…. lots of ways to look at it. I know a lot of you ignore the number or
dread the passing of time. Me? I love my birthday! Always have.
Now some years where the number was more significant I might have felt a
twinge of longing for younger years, but it normally just passed and I was left
enjoying the day.
Ask my family, I really get into it. As a child I would get so excited! I am one of the lucky people, my birthday is
in the 2nd half of October…that’s right!!! Halloween birthday parties!!! Seriously this was the best time of year for
a birthday! Constant supply of candy,
super fun decorations, and Christmas hasn’t happened so wallets were a bit more
open! My family always did a great job
of celebrating our birthdays. It was
your day and by golly we were going to celebrate you!
The party side of it has diminished a bit as I have gotten
older but the joy of the day has not.
There has been a tiny glitch in my Happy Birthday to ME celebration of
late though…. I married a man whose family really didn’t get into the birthday
thing!
What?!
But it’s your day?!
Nope.
I have successfully brainwashed him a bit. He understands that it is a big deal to me
even though it isn’t to him. I try and
still make his day super special and I think he secretly now enjoys it. My husband’s birthday is 10 days before
mine. I set the precedent…. show him how it’s
done. I just know one day on my birthday
I will wake up to balloons, streamers and breakfast in bed…. I sure hope he is reading
his. Wink wink…
I do need to get a bit serious now. At my new age I can do that!
I have learned a lot this past year, and I would be remiss
to not share some of my newly found wisdom.
Take it or leave it, it’s all good.
1. STAY
POSITIVE! I know this is hard, but
really what is the alternative? I wouldn’t
say this is the gratitude part of life as much as realizing that not everything
is bad, no one is out to get you, and for the love of all that is right stop
taking yourself so seriously!!!!!
2. LIFE IS
SHORT! You have heard this, but we need
to embrace it! We are so blessed to be
alive. So tomorrow laugh, skip, sing,
dance, tell someone to have an amazing day.
3. READ A BOOK! Weird one right? But I think that there is
something so powerful in picking up a book.
Yes, an actual book. Not your
kindle or laptop, not the computer or audio books. Pick up a book, flip the pages and fall in
love with storytelling again.
Well, I’m outta here but thank you again for stopping by, I
don’t know what this next trip around the sun will hold for any of us, but I
plan to enjoy the ride and no worries, I will be sharing the ride with you
right here.
Happy Birthday to ME!
